Hong Kong’s high-speed rail link to China opens in two weeks, where are the timetables?

Despite all the brouhaha about the high-speed train to mainland China and all the so-called politics that everyone is complaining about, I am more intrigued about the actual service.

For the past two months, I have been calling the MTR Corp to get a schedule. I travel to China frequently but either go by ferry or through Shenzhen; I also have customers arriving from overseas at the end of the month, and want to book several tickets to multiple locations in the mainland.

I cannot believe that, just two weeks before the express rail link opens, there are no schedules available, whether in mainland China or Hong Kong. When you call the MTR, they simply say wait until the station opens, then go and look – we do not have any timetables or schedules.

So one assumes that on the opening day there are going to be lots of trains going to no destinations, or are they going to see who turns up and where they want to go? If I want to book a ticket in China I can book up to a month in advance.
