Donald Trump is a ‘Teflon’ president and the last thing America needs
I am sure that there was no intended irony in Michael Chugani’s opinion (“Trump, the new Teflon president that America needs now”) that appeared on the same day as the anonymous New York Times oped article.
Mr Chugani lists the amorality of the current US president and says quite rightly that the name “Donald Trump” is “synonymous with all things decent people abhor”. What does that say about Trump supporters? The last time I heard the term Teflon being prefixed to a leader was “Teflon Tony Blair”. This was not a compliment; indeed the opposite.
The “Teflon” of the dystopian world of Trump refers to his inability to adhere to any form of truth or morality. This is the last thing that America needs from its president. Mr Chugani would be well-advised to pause before expressing any positive opinion about a man whose only positive attribute appears to be his ability to attract attention, as befitting a self-obsessed reality TV star, a showman. This is not what America, or indeed the world needs. Not now, not ever.
