Letters | In disputed Kashmir, violence begets violence
- The vast majority of Indians, like the Americans and others, are very tired of treating terrorists and their supporters with kid gloves
I refer to “In disputed Kashmir, the violence goes on”, (January 20). Burhan Wani – mentioned in your article – was a hard-core terrorist backed by Pakistan.
The Indian military has been exercising maximum restraint, but civilian supporters of terrorists arrive when the terrorists are engaged in bloody conflicts with the military. They throw stones at our uniformed forces and openly side with the terrorists.
The mood in India is very clear: so long as there are people who will use violent means to achieve their goals, there will be no end to violence. The vast majority of Indians, like the Americans and others, are very tired of treating terrorists and their supporters with kid gloves.
However, we love all the innocent people in Kashmir, be they Muslim or Hindu, as our brothers and we consider them to be equal citizens of India.
