We are a wine and spirit importer based in Chai Wan. Given that the government grants over 1,000 import licences, many million bottles a year should be available for recycling.

Your article “Sort your rubbish properly, Hong Kong’s glass recyclers tell residents amid supply and waste management woes” (March 4) says Hong Kong’s two glass recycling contractors are not collecting enough supply. This is difficult to understand.

Can the contractors or the Environmental Protection Department clarify why not?

On our part, we would be pleased to deliver empty bottles to a collection point in Chai Wan. Unfortunately, there is no facility we know of. Our building, which is a 23-storey industrial complex, could easily assist if the management company would cooperate by designating a collection point on the ground floor.
