As a regular first-class commuter on the MTR’s East Rail Line, I am often annoyed to find the sound system in the compartment going. This disturbs many other people during the morning rush hour, since I notice a lot of commuters taking a nap, reading the papers, or tuning in to radio programmes via headphones; also, the religious-minded may be reading scriptures and meditating.

Currently, these commuters (me included) are being deprived of quietude on journeys to work and back home. Furthermore, constantly bombarding commuters with noise is likely to render them irritable and even incur health risks in the long run.

Therefore I would like to request MTR Corp’s senior management to mute all the television sets in first-class compartments on the East Rail Line, thus providing commuters with a quiet and pleasant journey worth the fare paid. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
