In light of the coronavirus risks, local, regional and national governments around the world are either closing their borders with China or refusing entry to Chinese citizens in order to stop the virus from spreading.

In China itself, Wuhan and indeed the whole of Hubei province are on lockdown, with people prevented from exiting (“ Hongkonger wants family out of Hubei, but told to ‘stay put’ for now ”, February 4).

Has anybody thought about how the media frenzy surrounding the coronavirus is making innocent citizens feel? They were not the cause of this virus, but now they are being locked into their own homes like political prisoners under house arrest.
