I keep seeing comments on how we need to make changes to our daily routine and adapt to a new environment, either at work or at home. As most of us are addicted to our smartphones and have lost the ability to converse and debate face-to-face – instead hiding our trolling behind a social media facade – we talk, but really do little to change.
Over the past few months, we have seen how the planet is slightly revitalised, albeit at the expense of the human population. None of this is from the public relations-led big corporations (“As coronavirus lockdowns help heal the Earth, can humanity create a greener, kinder future?”, May 1).
Big clothing companies whine about their troubles, but have spared little thought for the laid-off workers as they drive around in the latest Teslas. Inexperienced buyers working from a spreadsheet have no idea how their decisions can cause so much hardship for a worker in Dhaka. They simply do not care or are blatantly ignorant.
High-street landfill clothing brands are not paying their cheap labour and not honouring their orders, but we still buy their rubbishy cheap clothes that have no longevity. Stop buying their rubbish and the change will start.
