With reference to Peter Kammerer’s “The test for Beijing: will Hongkongers accept a Chinese vaccine?” (August 11): no country is perfect. No person is perfect. Both you and I are flawed as people.
I for one would proudly stick my arm out and get a jab of the Chinese-made Covid-19 vaccine if it were available. Perhaps we all ought to look at China in a different light.

I am a Western-educated Chinese who in my teens always thought the West was best, in particular the United States. How the times have changed. As I have matured and seen the world, I no longer hold the prejudiced view of China I did when I was young.

Are Chinese goods inferior? Are foreign-made goods always better? Ten years ago, if you asked me if I would buy a Chinese-made phone, my answer would be a resounding “no”. Ask me today and I’d tell you I am eagerly waiting for next flagship phone from Huawei.
