LettersHong Kong coronavirus fourth wave: puzzling moves with two sets of rules
1-MIN READ1-MIN

There’s much going on — and not going on — that I don’t understand during these semi-lockdown days and nights in Hong Kong.
Here’s one more puzzler: many of us have been asked to work from home at this time. One needs peace and quiet to be productive. At least for myself, the constant din of drilling expected to take place from noon to 5pm until the end of December by the management of where I live adds to the goalposts that keep being moved by a totally inept government prone to knee-jerk reactions.
Adults might be able to accept this. But what about the children trapped at home?

While we’re at it, how come the powers-that-be had no idea where the nouveau riche were allowed to flout social distancing laws and cha cha cha to the beat of their own bongos, creating this fourth “wave”? This only further proves that there are two sets of rules in Hong Kong – one for the haves and another for the have-nots.
Someone should be held culpable for this latest cluster.
