I commend your reporter, Andrew McNicol, for bringing out an issue that has made many local golfers very frustrated (“Golfers claim unfair privileges for 1010 callers when booking Kau Sai Chau course tee times”, December 2). The problem facing the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course lies with the management running the course being far too complacent for too long a time. It has kept the same old telephone booking system for two decades, which coincides with a period in which the world experienced the fastest information technology development ever.

Meanwhile, 1010 is providing a superb service to its customers. What’s wrong with that? This is exactly what a commercial entity should do. While I don’t use this service, it doesn’t make any sense to me for the course to request 1010 to stop providing the value-added service to its customers because the course is not doing its own job.

It’s good news that the system will finally be replaced, something that should have happened five or even 10 years ago.
