In what has been possibly one of history’s and mankind’s worst ever crises and disasters, we have apparently managed to develop a solution almost at the speed of a bullet train.

This is a global exercise and indeed an amazing achievement if success has been achieved as claimed. Indeed, it is a wonderful cause for celebration as it boosts mankind’s confidence in an otherwise not so cheerful future.

This incredible achievement could perhaps also lead to other problems being solved, such as currently incurable diseases and, indeed, the colossal environmental problem – climate change.

It appears that when we do put our minds to it, the human race can overcome insurmountable obstacles and triumph over the worst that nature might have in store for us.

We hope the imminent end of this present pandemic heralds the dawn of a second renaissance on a global scale.

We hope 2021 will see the human race entering a completely new phase of the relationship with planet Earth, beginning to move from exploitation to guardianship of all its bounty in all its aspects.

The steps taken to counter the pandemic undeniably improved the environment. In our rush to return to pre-pandemic activity, we must recognise that the problem of global warming that is leading to increasingly unstable climatic conditions needs to be addressed.
