I would like to compliment the Hong Kong government for its handling of the pandemic. The reluctance of many in Hong Kong to be vaccinated is no fault of the government but more because of the scaremongering by the media.
I believe it would be timely for Hong Kong follow the example of Singapore, which has come to the realisation that Covid-19 is a flu-like virus which might not be eradicated for a very long time, if ever. Therefore, the sensible approach is to accept it and learn to live with it. That means getting back into a normal routine with citizens taking responsibility for their health, wearing masks in crowded areas, trying some social distancing where convenient to do so and accepting that vaccines are much safer than infections.
News outlets should no longer report the number of infections as that is irrelevant, but instead they should report the number of people hospitalised or deceased from the virus. These statistics will not be so scary and will raise the confidence of people.

This would be in sharp contrast to the Western media, which are clearly prompted by their governments to scare the population into accepting their failed extremist tactics like lockdowns.
In addition, I would urge the government to explore the new inventions I have read about from countries like Israel, which have testing equipment which provides very accurate results painlessly and within minutes. Acquiring such equipment for airports and other venues would be a godsend. In the United Kingdom, they now have home testing kits as well.

Let’s get on with a responsible, full and open life in Hong Kong and hop on the hi-tech bandwagon developed in other countries to show everyone once again that we are the No 1 city in the world.
