All truly law-abiding citizens of Hong Kong were shocked by the actions of a man who stabbed an on-duty policeman in Causeway Bay on July 1, the 24th anniversary of the city’s return to Chinese sovereignty. The attacker caused serious injuries to the officer before stabbing himself in the chest and later being pronounced dead in hospital (“Hong Kong police on high alert after officer stabbing by ‘lone-wolf domestic terrorist’”, July 2).
The heinous crime definitely deserved condemnation. Fortunately, the officer survived the attack. However, what further shocked members of public was that parents were seen taking their kids to publicly offer their tributes to the attacker.
What kind of values do these parents want to instil into their kids? Do they want them resorting to violence when they are unhappy or aggrieved in the future?
The alleged perpetrator was apparently copying what terrorist groups are doing around the world – that is, carry out suicide attacks. I wonder whether those glorifying his action would do the same thing if a similar attack against US soldiers was conducted.

What are the differences between them? I wonder who it is that has really been brainwashed.
The pan-democrats, together with their hot-headed supporters, are obviously refusing to admit defeat and recognise the greatness of China.
