LettersGreater African representation will benefit Hong Kong and minority groups alike
- Readers discuss the benefits greater African representation can bring Hong Kong, the impressive Hong Kong Palace Museum, and the appeal of slow living

The media often shapes what many learn about Africa. In Hong Kong, this has been bolstered by not-for-profit organisations offering humanitarian services. The media has painted a picture of Africans as impoverished, uneducated and unable to meet the tasks at hand. It’s this African misrepresentation that poses a threat to Africa’s identity and the ability for Africans to contribute to the city’s development without prejudice.
African nationals are educated and professionally positioned to support the city’s strategic development. An African voice in the boardroom creates linkages to understand what ethnic minority groups can offer in Hong Kong.
I am in total agreement with Lee that the city shouldn’t waste any more time. It is my suggestion that the minority Africans are inclusively engaged in the city’s sectors and equally paid for their services.
