Hong Kong is not the only place hunting for the smartest and brightest, from the best universities. Who do we really believe has the calibre to move us up, even to the top?
Why not start by analysing which country is at the top of the world? Isn’t it fair to say that the United States is the undisputed No. 1? The country of more than 330 million Americans more or less dominates the world.
Next, let’s analyse who was attracted to North America, involuntarily or unintentionally, 400 years ago? They came from all over Europe, and certainly not always from the top universities.
The most important assets of those immigrants were their strong elbows and their will to succeed. Maybe Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu could save us many Hong Kong dollars by changing his target group?
