I am a retired civil servant. My supposed annual dental check-up for 2024 has been rescheduled to June 2025. The dental clinic staff told me the delay was unavoidable due to a shortage of government dentists. May I suggest the government explore all avenues in hiring more dentists?

Firstly, hire dentists from the mainland or Taiwan. They could be offered higher wages and better housing subsidies. One condition could be that they work in government clinics for three years before they can practise privately.

Secondly, advertise in Commonwealth countries for dentists to work in Hong Kong. Thirdly, hire doctors from non-Commonwealth countries like the Philippines.

Inspiring read

What an inspiring story in the Up Front section of the Post Magazine on April 9.

Rabi Yim Chor-pik is a true hero we can all learn from. Despite going through so much, she has literally picked herself up and is fighting for not only her rights but those of all mobility-challenged people in Hong Kong. The restaurant industry should increase wheelchair accessibility so that the mobility-challenged and the aged can go to places comfortably.

Looking forward to reading more stories like this.
