I am disappointed with the taxi bay at the Hong Kong International Airport, which, I am afraid, has not given a good impression to visitors.

As an international financial centre, Hong Kong should offer visitors a welcoming and comfortable experience. However, the lack of air-conditioning in the taxi bay is a major issue, particularly during the hot summer months when temperatures can exceed 30 degrees Celsius. Both visitors and staff members directing the queues (three in total) were suffering as a result, and this is not acceptable.

I wonder whether our senior government officials and/or members of the Airport Authority senior management responsible for airport operations have ever gone to this area of the airport. Are they aware of the poor conditions there?

The poor service provided by taxi drivers is another big issue. My recent experience with a taxi driver was terrible, which is an understatement. Not only was he reluctant to help me with my luggage, but he was also coughing throughout the journey without wearing a face mask.

To make matters worse, he even spat phlegm out of his seat window. This is not only unprofessional but also a serious health risk. It was a good thing my wife and I (both over 60) were wearing masks.
