In the pink: where to join the campaign against breast cancer

Pink ribbons and bracelets will be out in force this month as Hong Kong joins the global campaign to fight breast cancer. Here are some of the pink-themed events happening in the city. For the fifth consecutive year The Peninsula in Tsim Sha Tsui (above) is staging , a group-wide campaign to help raise awareness and funds through pink-themed promotions. People can support by buying a Peninsula in Pink pin (HK$40); all donations go to the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation. During October, Peninsula hotels will be serving a "pink" tea set comprising pink cakes and goodies, while The Peninsula Spa has signature Pretty in Pink treatments. Conrad Macao has also jumped on the pink bandwagon, collaborating with jewellery designer Butani as part of its 2014 campaign. Until the end of October, the hotel will offer guests a series of "plush, pink experiences" in support of the Hong Kong Cancer Fund's Pink Revolution. The Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation and Radio Television Hong Kong are launching , a radio programme that aims to educate the public on breast health and breast cancer in Hong Kong. The programme starts on October 16 on RTHK's Digital 31 channel, from 8.30pm-9pm. It will be broadcast every Thursday.
October 24 is when workers can liven up the office by wearing pink - go top-to-toe, or just add a splash of colour with your tie or socks. Companies are encouraged to host a pink party or pink-themed event to help promote Pink Revolution among colleagues or classmates. Every Dress Pink Day participant is encouraged to donate HK$100 or more to pay for a Pink Recovery Pack. This will be delivered to the bedside of a breast cancer patient who has recently undergone surgery. All funds raised on the day will go towards these packs, which contain vital information, provisions and aids to ease women's anxiety and discomfort.
