Captain Marvel to Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Comic Universe’s big year through Kevin Feige’s eyes

Thanos may have all the Infinity Stones, but the most powerful being in the Marvel universe remains Kevin Feige. As president of Marvel Studios, the 45-year-old executive has ultimate control over the fate and future of every character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU.
Feige is credited with masterminding the extended and interlinked thread of superhero movies starting with the first Iron Man in 2008 and continuing through titles including Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Guardians of the Galaxy, and outings by the supergroup collectively known as the Avengers.
It’s worth noting that Feige’s relationship with Marvel goes back even farther. The University of Southern California graduate was an associate producer on 2000’s X-Men, which was optioned at the time by 20th Century Fox.
His comic book knowledge came in handy then, and it prompted Marvel’s burgeoning film unit to hire him full time. In 2007, he was named president of productions, setting in motion a pop-culture phenomenon and a box-office juggernaut.
This year will see the culmination of a very successful storyline. It began with the hit Captain Marvel in March, which introduced a new major character to the fold. Then, at the end of this month, the current Avengers story will conclude with the release of Endgame.
Meanwhile, the company continues to branch out with a second Marvel attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland, called Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle, which has just opened. Feige and Ant-Man star Paul Rudd attended the launch at the end of last month.
