K-pop stars Chungha and Hwang Min-hyun have tested negative for the coronavirus, quelling fears of the virus spreading to the South Korean music scene.

Singer Chungha went to Milan Fashion Week last month and returned to Seoul on February 24. Two of her staff were confirmed to have been infected by the virus after the visit, but the K-pop star and all other staff members tested negative.

“Chungha and her staff members are in self-quarantine,” said her agency, MNH Entertainment. “We will temporarily call off the singer’s schedules.”

The soloist released a single, Everybody Has, on February 29.

Meanwhile, Hwang participated in the Moncler Genius show, part of Milan Fashion Week, in Italy on February 19. The member of K-pop boy band NU’EST is a brand ambassador for the apparel and lifestyle brand.

After his visit to Italy – which has confirmed more than 2,000 coronavirus cases and 52 deaths – a rumour started circulating online that Hwang had contracted the virus.

Hwang Min-hyun took part in the Moncler Genius show in Italy on February 19.

However, this was denied by Hwang’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, which said that the singer and his staff members who had been in Italy all tested negative. “But we will not arrange schedules for Hwang for the time being due to safety concerns,” the management company said.

To date, South Korea has confirmed 4,812 cases and 28 deaths.
