Yoona, a member of K-pop girl band Girls’ Generation, has apologised for broadcasting a live stream from a karaoke room with fellow South Korean star Lee Hyo-ri in violation of the government’s coronavirus restrictions.

The pair, who appeared together on the successful TV reality show Hyori’s Homestay in 2018, used the public venue when the country, facing another spike in Covid-19 numbers largely linked to public venues, was being told not to visit shared public spaces.

In an Instagram post, Yoona admitted she “wasn’t careful enough especially during this time when everyone must watch out for the coronavirus”.
