Seafood in Bangkok, yakitori at Yardbird, satay in Singapore – where an Italian in Hong Kong wants to eat after coronavirus
- When normal dining and travel resume after the coronavirus pandemic, Sofia Lisi knows exactly where she wants to go to eat
- From food courts in Singapore and Vietnam to high-end yakitori and French Cantonese bistro fare in Hong Kong, she is a fan of all cuisines

Italian native Sofia Lisi, marketing director for La Cabane Wine Bistro, became ill with the coronavirus while at work. She has now recovered.
I can’t wait to travel again across Southeast Asia. I am an all-kinds-of-food person. There is no cuisine I don’t like, including all kinds of Chinese, hard core local joints and refined fine dining, as long as the food remains true and genuine. I also love the food of Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand.
In Singapore, I like Chomp Chomp Food Centre (20 Kensington Park Road, Singapore 557269). Located outside the city centre, it’s pretty popular among locals and is good for late night snacks – it opens at 6pm, and is the place for satay, offering an array of traditional Singaporean dishes.
When I’m in Vietnam I go to the Binh Tay Market (57A Thap Moui, Ward 2, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City). At the back of the market, there’s a huge food court packed with vendors selling some of the most snackable street food.

In Thailand, I go to the Chatuchak Weekend Market (587/10 Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900) to experience the buzz of the city during the weekend. I also like Yaowarat Chinatown (Samphanthawong District) – I love the vibes here and all the neon lights on the streets welcoming you. Seafood, grilled octopus and so many sweets to choose from!
