Salmon bento, Hainanese chicken rice, bulgogi – model Ana Rivera tells us her favourite restaurants in Hong Kong
- Former Hong Kong catwalk queen Ana Rivera eats bulgogi and barbecue at Myung Ga Korean Restaurant with her mom whenever she is in town
- Zuma is her go-to place for sashimi, and she loves the Hainanese chicken rice at the Grand Hyatt Grand Café, as she tells Andrew Sun

Model Ana Rivera has been a mainstay on Hong Kong catwalks and fashion pages for over a decade. Now a mother of two, she operates her own agency, Model One.
I generally prefer Asian food. Japanese and Korean are always my favourites. I was born in America with a Korean mom, and a dad who worked on military bases.
That background allowed me to travel to a lot of places trying different foods. When I was younger, fried plantain was my favourite thing to eat. My husband is British and he loves having the same foods every day, but I like different tastes and textures.
My lifestyle has changed completely after moving to Lantau [Hong Kong’s biggest outlying island]. I come out to the city maybe once a month. Otherwise, I’m home, cooking for the kids and cleaning all the dog hair with my Dyson vacuum cleaner. I do like taking the kids to fresh farmer markets. I’m also growing my own vegetables – tomatoes, pineapples, mango, potatoes and herbs.

The latest new restaurant I tried is Zoku (2/F, The Hari, 330 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, tel: 2129 0338). I really liked their Japanese lunch menu. The teriyaki salmon bento set is excellent.
Zuma (Shop 501-503, 5/F The Landmark, 15 Queen’s Road Central, Central, tel: 3657 6388) is also a favourite. The way they prepare the sashimi is simple and fresh. Even the wasabi is good and the service excellent.
