Vegetarian dosa, early morning dim sum, Thai food that takes you right back to Bangkok - favourite restaurants of a New Delhi native in Hong Kong
- Restaurateur Vidur Yadav loves Francis for a date night, yakitori and highballs at Yardbird for a celebration, and Sun Hing in Kennedy Town for 2am dim sum
- He can’t wait to eat chaat, kebabs and curry back home in New Delhi, and misses the food in Mexico City and Melbourne

New Delhi native Vidur Yadav is a partner in Bengal Brothers (6 Johnston Road, Wan Chai, bengal-brothers.com), which serves grab-and-go Indian street snacks, kati rolls and rice bowls. He talks to Andrew Sun.
I consider myself quite easy-going and adaptable when it comes to food. Trying local fare is always big on the agenda. In India, I’d be just as happy grabbing a beer and street food as I would be enjoying a nice glass of wine at a fancy restaurant. Indian street food is close to my heart, as you can probably tell.
Samsen (68 Stone Nullah Lane, Wan Chai, tel: 2234 0001) is one of my favourite restaurants. I go for the delicious Thai fare and the fun setting that takes me right back to the streets of Bangkok. I especially love the grilled coconut and chilli prawn skewers and khao soi.
Another favourite of my girlfriend and I is Francis (4-6 St Francis Street, Wan Chai, tel: 3101 9521) for a date night. We love the chicken schnitzel and all the vegetable options.

Close by, in my neighbourhood, is Chino (1B-1C New Praya, Kennedy Town, tel: 2606 0588) where I go for a casual bite and a highball. Lastly, Sangeetha Vegetarian Restaurant (Shop 1-5 & 31, UG/F, Wing On Plaza, 62 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2640 2123) for dosa on Sundays is a tradition in my family and always reminds me of home.
I take visitors for late night or early morning dim sum at Sun Hing (8 Smithfield, Kennedy Town, tel: 2816 0616). The fresh-off-the-trolley dim sum baskets at 2am and the diverse setting of customers is part of the treat, encapsulating everything I love about Hong Kong. I also take friends to Rajasthan Rifles (Shop G01, The Peak Galleria, 118 Peak Road, tel: 2388 8874) to enjoy the view of this beautiful city with a gin and tonic on the terrace.
