Every year in Hong Kong, partygoers get into the Halloween spirit with festive costumes and make-up. This year is no exception.
Pumpkin-shaped ice-cream trucks are doing the rounds of several districts, and even the city’s trams and MTR stations are decorated for the season.
The West Kowloon Cultural District, rebranded WestK, has a full programme of pet-friendly Halloween events from October 26 to October 31, while in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Hong Kong Space Museum 3D Celestial Projections runs nightly from 8.15pm-10.30pm until October 31.
The city also has a smorgasbord of food-related Halloween events. Here is a slice of what is on offer.

1. Pumpkin pie at Eaton HK
Sink your teeth into the sweets at The Astor restaurant (B1/F, Eaton HK, tel: 2710 1901) where the dessert section has a selection of Halloween cupcakes, confectionery, lollipops, cakes and pumpkin pie, available from October 26-31.
At the Terrible Baby rooftop bar (4/F, Eaton HK, tel: 2710 1866), star bartender Axel Gonzalez is creating some scary looking drinks, such as the Candy Crush Zombie (HK$100/US$13) infused with dark rum, grapefruit and citrus, and served with a cinnamon cola foam. Available until October 31.

2. Game on at Zuma
Japanese restaurant Zuma is celebrating Halloween with an edition of its Yashoku Night brunch, on October 26 from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, that nods to Japan’s golden age of arcade games.
The price (HK$1,688 per person) includes unlimited starters, sushi and sashimi, tempura, two main courses, and free-flow champagne, sake, and beer.

3. Treats at Island Shangri-La
A four-course Witching Hour dinner (HK$1,388 per person) will be held at the hotel’s sixth-floor Lobster Bar and Grill on October 26 and will feature magic, tarot readings and themed cocktails.
On October 27 in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, there will be a best-dressed contest, so let out your inner witch, goblin or ghoul. For HK$880, families (maximum two adults and two children) can join the spectacle, which includes a goody-bag, photos and a selection of snacks and drinks.

4. Aqua night brunch and Cyberpunk party
Aqua in Tsim Sha Tsui is hosting a Halloween night brunch on October 26, dishing up unlimited Italian and Japanese appetisers as well as a spooky dessert platter.
The price ⁠(HK$1,288 per person) includes two hours of free-flow champagne and sake as well as access to a Cyberpunk party where a futuristic dystopia awaits with spine-chilling performances, live DJ sets and Halloween-themed cocktails.

5. Thrills at Pellicola Theatre Lounge
Pellicola Theatre Lounge, on the rooftop of the Sophia Loren House restaurant in Wan Chai, is hosting a Day of the Dead party.
Get dressed up for this alfresco soirée that celebrates the Mexican fiesta with dancers, a complimentary face-painting service and tarot card readings, and with DJ Julia Marchak on the decks.
Tickets can be bought for HK$258 in advance or at the door on the night for HK$288. Alternatively, HK$688 buys you three hours of free-flow champagne, wines, prosecco, beer, juices and soft drinks.

6. Zombie apocalypse at Fumi
Zombie fans are in for a treat with the screening of classic Cantonese horror film Bio Zombie on October 24 at Japanese restaurant Fumi in Central’s Lan Kwai Fong district.
The event, which runs from 6pm-10pm, is paired with a seven-course set dinner (HK$1,280 per person). Book now for a buy-one-get-one-free deal and get ready to immerse yourself in Wilson Yip’s vision of the zombie apocalypse. Bio Zombie stars Jordan Chan and Sam Lee.
