Lee Su-jeong has, for the past eight years, been known as Baby Soul, the glamorous leader of K-pop act Lovelyz. Because of that, the 29-year-old has had no time to find out who she is and what she likes as her own person.

Lee, however, has recently taken her first steps towards that.

The girl group, who debuted in 2014, terminated their contracts last year with management company Woollim Entertainment. Lee – the only member who has renewed her contract – has spent most of her time searching for the missing pieces of her puzzle.

“I was not aware of this, but in hindsight, I tried so hard to live as Baby Soul instead of Lee Su-jeong,” she reveals at the headquarters of Woollim Entertainment in Seoul, South Korea. “I almost did not know anything about myself.
