Hong Kong’s best-kept secrets: Ma Dai Stream, the hidden waterfall
Elaine Yauin Beijing

Inside the Ma On Shan Country Park, amid craggy cliffs is a magnificent waterfall so well-hidden that one could enjoy a dip in privacy.

The easiest way to get there is to take the MTR to Tai Shui Hang Station, exit B. it's a five minute walk north along Hang Tak Street. The entrance is at the nullah between Tai Shui Hang Village and Chevalier Garden. Once there, it’s a 20 minute walk up a concrete path where you’ll reach a stream scattered with big rocks smoothed by the cascading water. The climb up the creek takes another 20 minutes.  Yes, it’s quite a workout scrambling over all the rocks, but it’ll be more than worth the effort when you reach the destination and see the waterfall and rock pool.
