HEDVIG FROM THE WILD DUCK

Ina Christel Johannessen, who is in Hong Kong to choreograph a production based on a play by fellow Norwegian Henrik Ibsen, is feeling the heat in more ways than one.

The schedule for the production - June 28 and 29 at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium - makes rehearsals intense. "It's my first time working in Hong Kong. I've been here five weeks, but have spent most of the time in the studio, although I've done a little sightseeing and found the city exciting … and very hot!" says Johannessen.

She is working with the City Contemporary Dance Company on what is the world premiere of Hedvig from The Wild Duck, inspired by Ibsen's 1884 classic, The Wild Duck.

It is her first project in Asia and also her first interpretation of a piece by Ibsen, who is considered the father of realism and modern drama.
