A two-way camera that helps you keep in contact with your pet, PetCube (HK$1,785, petcube.com) is a tiny Wi-fi interactive pet monitor. You can watch your pet and even talk to it via a two-way microphone. PetCube also lets you play with your pet using a remotely controlled laser game. It uses a smartphone app, and works wherever pet and owner are, as long as the phone and PetCube are attached to Wi-fi.

Designed as a play aid and not a replacement for human contact, iFetch (HK$1,388, uPet Online, upet.hk) is an automatic ball launcher that throws specially designed iFetch balls. If your dog brings a ball back and places it in the funnel, it will launch it again, although it's best if the owner hangs around to replace the balls and (yuck) wipe the saliva off.
