Perched on the 30th floor of V Point, Zeng bar and eatery offers innovative cocktails and cuisine. The main room opens up onto a balcony which has an uninterrupted harbour view; it is also a great space to enjoy shisha.

We sit in a semi-private, semicircular booth that was surrounded by windows overlooking Causeway Bay, and even have a view of the Happy Valley Racecourse between the buildings.

The innovative cocktails arrive first. Mr Woman (HK$138) in a very long-stemmed glass, is sweet and sophisticated, featuring champagne with sparkling rosé, with dried rose petals on the side of the glass. Vampire Bubbles (HK$138) emits dry ice vapour from a glass vessel filled with red liquid made from whisky, cranberries and bitters, which we drink through a glass straw.

The food is just as exciting, especially the salmon zuke sushi (HK$128) featuring salmon marinated for a few days in Japanese herbs, and topped with caviar – it is heavenly.

The lobster carpaccio (HK$238) is fresh and light and the sliced rib-eye steak (HK$268) is tender. We really enjoy the truffle longevity noodles (HK$168) done in soy sauce, the truffle adding an extra kick. The Mentaiko udon carbonara (HK$128) is an East-West take on the popular Italian dish. Using udon in a thick creamy sauce with mushroom and ham, a raw egg on top is mixed into the dish. It is tasty but rich and even though the portion looks small, it is definitely enough for two.
