FARE Italian steakhouse
AMBIENCE Rustic and warm, with lots of wood, open kitchen and window seats looking over Lan Kwai Fong.
COST HK$1,500 for two with drinks.
WHO TO BRING Friends, business crowd or a date.
TURN-ONS Our favourite starters were the melt-in-the-mouth grilled foie gras with figs, marmalade, aged balsamic and brioche – always a winning combination; and the spiced octopus with crispy potato, aji panca, olive aioli, cherry tomatoes and chorizo – the spice, chorizo flavours and crispy textures made this dish pop. The more subtle buffalo mozzarella dish went perfectly with the pesto sauce, salad and herbs.

Next we tried a delicious porcini risotto with Italian mushrooms, Parmesan and truffle oil – classic flavours that always work well together. The Australian Wagyu T-bone was M5 grade from Rangers Valley and it was served with seasonal white asparagus and grilled mushrooms, with a wide range of sides to choose from. For dessert, we tried the classic cheesecake with raspberry sauce and garnished with strawberries.
TURN-OFFS The chocolate fondant with a runny chocolate centre did not hit the spot – it was not sweet enough for our taste.
DRINKS Ask the sommelier for pairing suggestions. There is a good wine selection. We ended with a zesty limoncello.
