FARE Barcelona/Catalan

AMBIENCE The spacious 5,000 square foot interior has velvet green booths and rattan chairs that frame the main dining room, which looks out on to the harbourfront terrace. The interior has a lot of natural light and there is a large piece of art by Barcelona artist Javier Calleja that takes centre stage.

COST Around HK$2,000 for two with drinks.

WHO TO BRING Good for family gatherings, colleagues for happy hour tapas and drinks, or a cosy date on the terrace.

TURN-ONS We love the choice of sitting outside or in; either way, the view is spectacular. The starter of churros and caviar (HK$80) with sour cream and dill was light and luxe, and perked up the taste buds for dishes to follow. Another tasty and refreshing starter is the avocado lobster (HK$210) with sliced avocado and lobster salad topped with salmon roe and ponzu. So moreish! The truffle bikini (HK$110) with jamon and tetilla cheese in contrast was rich and filling – it’s the perfect snack with a beer.

You can’t go wrong with the cold cuts: la rambla cured meat platter (HK$350) is a generous selection of four types of home cured meats; and the pulpo gallego (HK$200) is a hearty dish of octopus with a soft cured egg yolk, migas, papada joselito (pork jowl) and celeriac cream. It is worth ordering. There is a good choice of paella – from vegetarian to seafood – available in two different sizes.
