WHO TO BRING A hot date or foodie friends.
TURN-ONS We love the starter of seasonal Korean chips, especially the seaweed-flavoured ones that packed an umami punch. The yukhoe, which is the country’s version of beef tartare, was the perfect consistency, with finely shredded pear and crunchy fried artichoke. However, we felt the spice factor could be turned up on this dish. We sampled the Korean fried chicken add-on for (HK$148) and it was one of the best versions we’ve had. The chicken was juicy and enveloped in perfect batter, where the spicy yuzu sauce brightened the flavour with a powerful kick. We also tried the jeyuk bokkeum (HK$168), classic stir-fried pork and vegetable comfort food with a smoky twist in the hot sauce. A small difference but we could’ve eaten a mountain of this dish accompanied with rice.
TURN-OFFS Diners who are unfamiliar with Korean fare might not notice the refined approach Hansik Goo takes. This somewhat limits the enjoyment for those who are trying the cuisine for the first time.
