I want those tights in the Russell & Bromley magazine ad that are sheer black with polka dots, but I couldn’t find them on the brand’s website. Ideas?

The Dictator rules: Maybe that’s because that fine British brand specialises in leather accessories, you ninny. Furthermore, advertisements, unlike magazine fashion spreads, rarely come with captioned shopping credits. Hidden in the drawers at Rigby & Peller (Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2175 3050), are Pretty Polly’s fab and fun spotted tights (from HK$199) and the reverse polka dot mock hold-up tights in opaque black with sheer dots (HK$279), designed by Henry Holland from House of Holland. Or you could get playful with a pair of Kate Spade’s gigantic Swiss dot tights in black (HK$300; Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8499). Super-luxe French hosiery brand Fogal’s Annabelle tights come in black, wine red or dark green sheer with tiny dots (HK$295; The Landmark, Central, tel: 2526 1751). Sceptics need only feel the store’s sample pair to realise these are tights on a completely different level of refinement and comfort (and, no, nobody paid me to say that). However, I am not beyond saving money better spent on a martini or two by sourcing some of my nylons from The Lanes in Central. Stall No 65, at the corner of Li Yuen Street East and Queen’s Road Central, for example, has a cute pair in sheer black covered with teensy white dots (only HK$42).
I’ve been loving those mid-sized handbags with parts in squares or shapes of different colours for a while now, but I might have waited too long. Are they still doing them this season?
