Sex up those old-man PJs with help from The Dictator

Hot Pants, Happy Valley

Did you honestly expect me to play stylist on this imminent car crash? No. When a man says he hates glam, he usually means "high maintenance", but still wants a sex bomb. Natural beauty is a myth. Men are hypocrites who want low-maintenance supermodels. Old-man PJs? Not part of that fantasy. Little pyjama shorts, however, can be the non-glam but alluring alternative. Cotton On has them in prints or solids (HK$119 each or HK$188 for three). It makes long, harem-style PJs in various prints, too (HK$139 each). The Gap's Pure Body range also gives you the choice of shorts or PJs (HK$199 to HK$229) while American Eagle Outfitters has the Aerie Stripe Pajama Pant (HK$155 and up). At least go sexy on top, perhaps with Cotton On's Grace Tank (HK$69), a masculine ribbed vest trimmed in lace. Just test the lace for scratchiness, which could be a turn off for you both. Take, for example, Eberjey's Lady Godiva Pant in stretch modal with super-soft lace trim (HK$690; Sheer, 13 Gough Street, Central, tel: 2147 3887). While there, stock up on sexy lingerie, an essential even under jeans and a tee. Just remember, whatever you do, do not stop waxing.

Glow with the Flow, Shek O

Unless you're planning to strut down the runway yourself, you might want to find more practical beauty aids. The fashion-show fantasy is usually created with generous dollops of Vaseline or unctuous oils. I suspect what you're looking for is a potion called High Beam by Benefit Cosmetics (HK$260; Lab Concept, Queensway Plaza, Admiralty, tel: 2116 9857). It's still an excellent choice for highlighting, but if you want an all-over face illuminator, check out the brand's That Gal primer (HK$300) and Girl Meets Pearl liquid luminizer (HK$300). Giorgio Armani Beauty offers its Fluid Sheer in 11 shades (HK$470 each). Kevyn Aucoin's Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting (HK$450; Joyce Beauty) is an illuminating emulsion inspired by the label's hero product, The Celestial Powder. It can be worn on its own or as a primer under foundation. Scarlett Johansson glowed at the Oscars with a combination of Dolce & Gabbana's Sheer Radiance Make Up Base (HK$495; Harvey Nichols), Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation (HK$450) and Glow Illuminating Powder (HK$405). Now, I don't mean to rub it in, but the 1990s were a long time ago. The world has changed and it's likely your skin has, too. Try lots and pick what's right for you.
