How to get rid of the camel toe and tech neck

Neck Out, Central

Sit up straight and listen. No, seriously. Sceptical as we are, we see this "tech neck" thing as part marketing ploy, part fact. The idea is that we are all craning our necks, which supposedly have particularly delicate skin, to look at smartphones and computers. That's why it's sometimes called "text neck". If you have a stiff or sore neck and upper back, you're probably suffering from it. The theory follows that the repetitive action accelerates ageing in this area. Indeed, our annoyingly baby-faced older sibling was recently called out by a beauty brand rep who said the neck was a dead giveaway. Ha! The solution is more posture than product related but you can also indulge in some of the wonderful neck care products available. Clarins offers the Advanced Extra-Firming Neck Cream (HK$670) as well as the Super-Restorative Decollete and Neck Concentrate (HK$1,000). We know StriVectin as the brand for tightening various parts of our ageing bodies, so it's no surprise it has the TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream (HK$1,020). Chantecaille's Bio Lifting Neck Cream (HK$1,650) promises to increase collagen and firm the skin. But if you're stooped over while you read this, you'll need more than a cream to help you.

High Jump, The Peak

Thank you for that visual. Short in the crotch would have sufficed. Sorry for the lack of sympathy. "Poor me, I have such long legs", sounds more like a cry for attention than a cry for help. As I see it, there are three routes to take. First, some famous brands offer tall sizing. Topshop only carries its "normal" and "petite" ranges in Hong Kong. You can order its "tall" pieces online, including the black tall wrap-front jumpsuit (HK$287; topshop.com), or the tall bandeau plunge jumpsuit in red (HK$574). At the first sign of an even-toed ungulate, you can always return it. The Asos.com "tall" section has 35 styles priced from HK$125 to HK$724. Second, find a tall women's brand, such as Long Tall Sally, which caters to women who are five foot eight and taller. Try the black V-neck, wide-leg jumpsuit with sheer panel at the top (HK$1,150; longtallsally.com), the black and wine-red lace bodice style (HK$276) and the black sleeveless V-neck jumpsuit (HK$574). And the third and final option: ask a Hong Kong tailor to make one for you. Just remember to be specific about the crotch, not just the inseam measurement. Don't be alarmed, but that's usually determined by measuring from your waist at the front, down between your legs, and around to your waist at the back.
