Men’s fashion: Kenzo’s Lunar New Year capsule collection; leather notepad wallets from Moynat

No monkey business At The goods we are ordinarily suspicious of brands jumping on the Lunar New Year bandwagon. After all, a monkey on clothing is a bad idea in a hundred different ways before considering it would date faster than you can say “Year of the Rooster”. However, we spied Kenzo’s Lunar New Year capsule collection and, we’ll admit, we were impressed, particularly with the tiger logo tee (above right; HK$1,390) and sweatshirt (above left; HK$2,390) and not a monkey in sight! Write stuff We're not sure how it happened but writing, like physically writing with a pen and a piece of paper, has become "cool" again. Yes, you may scoff and say, "Well, when did people stop writing?" Words such as "luxury", "bespoke" and "exclusive" are often bandied about in menswear-speak but, let's be honest, they have become a bit meaningless. Fret not! If you're looking for clothing with authentic exclusivity made from materials that would make Europe's minor royals weak at the knees then check out Italian label Pheres. From the latest lavish collection we like these two looks, which mix Italian flair with classic English tailoring, reflecting founder Narcisa Pheres' mixed heritage and training. Derby season If you've ever wondered where the trend for tattoo sleeves, beards and neat and tidy 1950s slicked-back, greaser-type haircuts came from, well, a certain Nick Wooster has a strong claim to be the originator. The menswear maven is a legend on social media and is also lending his cool to some more traditional brands. Wooster has linked up with Northampton shoemaker Grenson for rather nifty takes on traditional styles and our faves are the checkerboard Derby (above left; HK$6,800) and the pebble grain Derby (above right; HK$5,950).
