Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is one of the most celebrated five-star hotel chains in the world but, unlike groups such as the Mandarin Oriental and The Peninsula, it is not known for its wellness offerings.

This is set to change with the debut of Yun Wellness at Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong.

With 10 luxurious treatment rooms and offerings ranging from massages to physiotherapy and hair care, the spa is a haven in the heart of Hong Kong.

The bright space, which overlooks surrounding greenery, is a nice change from the often cavernous interiors of luxury hotel spas.

Yun Wellness looks out across surrounding greenery.

I opted for the 90-minute Lifting and Firming Collagen Facial, carried out by therapist Noelle using products from Swiss label Dr Burgener.

Although no extraction was performed, not long after, some minor breakouts disappeared almost completely, and my dehydrated skin following a long-haul flight the day before was plump and dewy.

At the end of the treatment, Noelle applied a hand mask and performed a soothing head massage, a wonderful way to end the pampering session.
