Feminist film Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 , based on the bestselling novel of the same title, will hit regional theatres in October, according to new reports. The movie, starring Jung Yu-mi and Gong Yoo, tells the story of Korean woman Kim Ji Young, who is suddenly possessed by spirits after facing discrimination because of her gender. Kim, played by Jung, is a “typical” woman who opts to stay silent instead of fighting against sexism. Gong Yoo and Jung Yu-mi to star in ‘Kim Ji Young, Born 1982’ Gong Yoo plays Kim's husband, Jung Dae-hyun, who strives to understand his wife and share her concerns. Filming was reportedly wrapped up in April. Cho Nam-joo’s novel, which was released in 2016, sold more than a million copies in Korea and its translation became a bestseller in China and Japan.
