Her eye-catching beauty doesn’t hurt, either, even stealing away attention from famous brides at their own weddings.
A relative newcomer to the glitz and glamour of Bollywood, Patani landed on the scene opposite Varun Tej in 2015’s Loafer. With a stable of bold upcoming projects and hints of a Hollywood crossover, Patani’s bound to continue stealing the hearts and minds of fans throughout the world.
Here are five things you need to know about Disha Patani:
Wondering about Wonder Woman
A recent Instagram video posted by Patani featured herself in the role of Wonder Woman thanks to a side-by-side face swapping app. Replacing Gadot’s likeness with that of her own, Patani’s Wonder Woman can be seen leaping out of danger and leading a team of fellow superheroes. While Gadot doesn’t appear to be setting aside her trademark shield and whip any time soon, Patani’s apparent interest in becoming the next super-something has nevertheless kicked off speculation that she’s bound to become a comic book crime-fighter of tomorrow.
From the middle class to the big screen
Unlike many of today’s film stars, Patani wasn’t born into movie stardom. Originally hailing from Uttarakhand, Patani had a middle-class upbringing with initial aspirations of becoming a model. Early shots capture her youthful beauty as she embarked upon her career as a model and commercial actor. After heading to Mumbai with just ₹500 (US$7) in her pocket after completing college, Patani lived and breathed acting until making her Bollywood debut in 2016’s MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
