The K-pop scene is starting 2020 with a spate of big name releases in January. Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation, Kim Jae-joong of boy group JYJ and Super Junior all have new albums to get stuck into. Here’s what you need to know.

Taeyeon

Taeyeon will release the repackaged album “Purpose” on January 15, according to her agency SM Entertainment. The singer recently unveiled a track list which included 12 numbers from her previous studio album of the same name, and three fresh songs — Dear Me, My Tragedy and Drawing Our Moments.

The lead single Dear Me is a blend of acoustic guitar and string melody. With her sentimental voice, Taeyeon will convey a message that people should trust and love themselves more.

“The upcoming album will enthral fans with diversity,” SM said.

Jaejoong

The singer also known as Kim Jae-joong returned on January 14 with a mini-album entitled “Love Ballad”, his agency C-JeS Entertainment said.

The agency shared the album’s track list last week. The lead song is Delicate Love and it comprises B-side songs Life Support, Secret and Time of Sea.

The lead song is a mawkish ballad about past love.

“The listeners will feel the power of Kim's vocal and emotions through the number,” C-JeS said.

Kim will embark on an Asian tour in late January.

Super Junior

Super Junior will release a repackaged album “Timeless” on January 28, according to their management company Label SJ.

The EP is a sequel to their previous releases “Time_Slip” and “Timeline”.

Rapper producer Zico composed the lead number 2YA2YAO!

It is the first time the group has released a hip-hop flavoured song since their 2004 debut.

“Super Junior will show off a new and unexploited music style,” the agency said.
