5 things you should know about Angelababy, China’s Weibo queen
Angelababy is the closest to an Asian version of a Kardashian as you can get. While she has achieved success in supporting and leading roles in Asian productions, she is best known for her online presence on the mainland social media platform Weibo.
Here are five things you should know about Angelababy.
1. She is mixed race
Angela Yeung Wing was born in Shanghai to a Shanghainese mother and a German-Chinese father from Hong Kong. She moved to Hong Kong when she was 13 years old and adopted the stage name Angelababy in her modelling years, which was a combination of her first name and the nickname her parents called her. She speaks English, Mandarin, Shanghainese, Japanese and Cantonese.

2. The actress already made a break into Hollywood films
While she has received accolades and starred in some major blockbusters in China, Angelababy has also acted in two Hollywood films: Hitman: Agent 47 (2015) and Independence Day: Resurgence (2016).
3. She is popular on Weibo
In 2014, Angelababy was crowned Weibo Queen and Weibo Goddess in 2014. She currently has more than 100 million followers on the Chinese social media platform.

4. She asked a doctor to verify she has never had plastic surgery
As part of Angelababy’s defamation lawsuit against Ruili plastic surgery clinic, which posted an essay on its website about her plastic surgery failures, the actress had her face publicly examined by a doctor in Beijing. In front of her lawyer, two notaries and the press, the doctor performed a preliminary exam to check for scars and took an X-ray of her face. He declared that she had never gone under the knife and is a natural beauty.

5. She is an entrepreneur and philanthropist
Angelababy has invested in several high-profile businesses such a nail parlour and a cafe with fellow Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka-fai. In 2015, she launched her own venture capital fund AB Capital and invested in e-commerce site Ymatou and drink brand HeyJuice.
