Kim Kardashian, Harry Styles and more celebrities who were victims of violent crimes – and lived to tell the tale

Styles’ iPhone was stolen by a knife gang, Kimmie famously lost US$11 million of jewellery when her Paris apartment was raided by masked intruders, and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was locked in the boot of a car by attackers in South Africa
Celebrities live a charmed life. Surrounded by the rich and famous, their status gives them access to the best in life. Teams of people around celebrities make sure they look their best and they also make tonnes of money. But with fame comes attention – and it’s not always friendly. Here are five celebrities who were stuck in dangerous situations – involving guns, knives and abductions – but were lucky enough to live to tell the tale.
Harry Styles
In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Harry Styles recounted how he was robbed at knifepoint this year on Valentine’s Day. Walking home alone, the Adore You singer said he spotted a group of men in hoods with their faces covered. He crossed the road, they followed. He crossed again, the same result. Not good.
“And I’m like – I think I’m about to get robbed,'” he said. Styles handed over his cash to the culprits, but tension arose when they not only asked for his phone but to unlock it as well. When Styles refused one of the would-be attackers showed him he had a knife. Fortunately, the lights turned red at the intersection and the pop-star ran out onto the road to get attention. While none of the cars let him in, he took the opportunity to make a run back to town and to safety.
But now we’re left wondering, what was so important on the phone that Styles was willing to risk his life over?
Duffy
Nothing much was known about the Welsh singer’s fading prominence after the release of her second album in 2015. In a recent Instagram post, she revealed that she has taken time out to heal from being kidnapped, drugged and assaulted “over some days”. She assured us that she is “OK and safe now”, and promised future posts to elaborate on her experience. We can only support her in her healing and admire her courage for speaking out.
