In 2013, Chloe Cho stepped in front of a national audience at just 16 years of age when she took to the stage on a reality TV talent show in South Korea. Fast forward to 2020 and Cho has signed with leading record label AOMG, headed by Jay Park, dropping her much anticipated music video EVITA! under the moniker DeVita. She has revealed that she plans on “releasing music in English and Korean”, as she feels like “a citizen of the world”. Already her fan base seems to be broad, with comments on her SoundCloud and Instagram written in a variety of languages. Her favourite track off her EP is 1974 Live Although all of her songs “are precious gems”, she picked 1974 Live as it is about “the most genuine and intimate side” of her. Her EP CRÈME was named after the term crème de la crème, which means best of the best. She says that the tracks reflect the struggles and growth of her past few years. Title tracks All About You and EVITA! are similarly close to her heart. The former is about her own love story. DeVita shares that she was in the middle of a shower when the tune popped in her head; she immediately wrote it down on her phone before she could forget, not even taking time to rinse the shampoo out of her hair. After graduating from high school, she recorded several tracks at a recording studio in Chicago and uploaded them to SoundCloud. She explains that her SoundCloud days “were more experimental” and that she has since “been polishing various sounds that [she] would like to make”.
