Covid-19 forced K-pop concerts online – are in-person gigs over? Former Monsta X star Wonho teases solo debut Wonho, a former member of boy band Monsta X, has unveiled a teaser video of a track from his solo debut mini-album “Love Synonym #1: Right for Me”. The singer’s agency Highline Entertainment shared a brief video of the song Losing You on YouTube, whetting fans’ appetite for his first solo act. The artist debuted as a member of septet Monsta X in 2015 with the album “Trespass”. But he left the group after unpaid debts and drug-use allegations were raised against him in November 2019. Starship Entertainment, his agency at the time, terminated his contract when an investigation was launched. However, he was cleared of the marijuana use allegations in March after police dropped their probe. Did Wonho leave debt trail? Monsta X star leaves K-pop band Wonho then inked a deal with Starship’s sub-label Highline for his comeback to the K-pop scene. His new album is slated to hit the shelves on September 4. Blackpink x Selena Gomez collaboration set to drop this month It was Lady Gaga in May and it will be Selena Gomez in August. World-slaying K-pop girl group Blackpink revealed that it will collaborate with American pop star Selena Gomez for a new single. Before Blackpink and Gaga: the 6 biggest K-pop collaborations The four-piece act’s record label YG Entertainment floated a teaser poster on its official blog. The poster shows the name of Blackpink and Gomez, as well as the song’s release date – August 28 – against a black and pink backdrop. Blackpink, consisting of Jenni, Lisa, Rose and Jisoo, shot to fame with a series of hits including Ddu-Du Ddu-Du (2018). Its latest release How You Like That – a pre-release from the forthcoming studio album that will hit shelves in October – racked up more than 100 million views on YouTube within 32 hours of its release and became the fastest YouTube video to reach the milestone . Gomez earned the first No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year with the single Lose You to Love Me. 4 times Blackpink caused controversy – before the How You Like That MV Singer Lee Hyori to feature in new reality show Singer Lee Hyori is to feature in a new digital reality show, according to Kakao M. “We are in the first stage of our planning,” a company official said. “The programme’s name and the filming date have not been decided yet.” The show reportedly will premiere on a fresh video platform that Kakao M plans to launch. The premiere date has not been set. Lee recently wrapped up her activities as a member of one-off K-pop group SSAK3, which was formed through MBC’s variety show Hangout with Yoo . The act, comprising comedian Yoo Jae-suk, singer-actor Rain and Lee, took the music streaming charts by storm with the song Summer Sea Again released on July 25. Lee’s husband Lee Sang-soon composed the track. Why is Running Man’s Yoo Jae-suk called Korea’s ‘National MC’? The singer debuted as a member of the girl group Fin.K.L in 1998 with the album “Blue Rain”. She went solo in 2003 and rose quickly to stardom with a smash-hit song 10 Minutes . Lee also appeared on dozens of popular shows including JTBC’s Hyori's Bed & Breakfast (Hyori's Homestay) in 2017-18. Twice hosted the epic virtual concert Beyond Live K-pop girl group Twice held its first virtual concert “Beyond Live – Twice: World in A Day”, on August 9. The nine-piece girl group’s concert was live-streamed worldwide through Naver's V Live as part of the ongoing series by Beyond Live, a joint company of two leading K-pop agencies SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment, incorporating the latest augmented reality technology and streaming services to provide real-time interactions between artists and audiences.
