Where to eat in Hong Kong in October: check out new restaurant openings at Mulino, Ozakaya, Jiangsu Club and CulinArt 1862, or party at Central’s BaseHall for Oktoberfest

- Ozakaya focuses on the cuisine of Osaka while CulinArt 1862 boasts both international offerings and a seven-course ‘Western kaiseki’ tasting menu
- For Oktoberfest, BaseHall in Jardine House will become a Bavarian beer tent with Young Master Festbier, schnapps, weisswurst and special dishes from BaseHall’s eight vendors
With the good news that tables of 12 people are once again allowed in restaurants, the Hong Kong dining scene is slowly starting to revive from its lowest Covid-19 doldrums. October is traditionally a relatively quiet time for F&B news – as many restaurants wait to open nearer the festive period and Lunar New Year – but that does not mean the month is devoid of exciting new openings to try.
Here are the best new restaurants, plus one timely Oktoberfest celebration, for you to tuck into this month.
1. Mulino

Injecting a dynamic dose of comforting Mediterranean dining into Tsim Sha Tsui East’s vibrant waterfront, Mulino offers elevated yet comforting Mediterranean flavours.
The restaurant is inspired by the different cuisines of countries surrounding the Mediterranean and is the creation of Egyptian chef-turned-culinary director Mohamed Hegazy and Moroccan executive chef Faycal El Moujahid.
Expect dishes like the seafood carta fata, where jet fresh seafood is wrapped in a special bag with basil and San Marzano tomato sauce, and slow-cooked.
Wing On Plaza, Units 1-6, 45 & 46, G/F, 62 Mody Road, East Tsim Sha Tsui
2. Ozakaya

Another month, another izakaya opening. What sets Ozakaya apart is its focus on innovative yet approachable dishes, centred on the cuisine of Osaka.
