MGM Cotai’s dynamic theatre, Asia’s first, is the size of three tennis courts

The soon-to-open resort in Macau, MGM Cotai, will feature Asia’s first dynamic theatre installed with the world’s largest permanent indoor LED wall.
The giant 900-square-metre 4K or ultra HD LED screen – the size of three tennis courts – will offer audiences 28 million pixels of viewing pleasure and ultra-high-resolution live video streaming. Designed by Montreal-based entertainment design firm Scéno Plus – creator of two permanent Cirque du Soleil theatres in Las Vegas – the new theatre can seat up to 2,000 people and can be configured for different purposes and layouts, from concerts, fashion shows and movie premieres to talk shows, product launches and international DJ sessions.
The seats are designed and manufactured by acclaimed Italian furniture maker Poltrona Frau, which has over a century’s history and customises the seats for Ferrari cars.
Jim Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International and chairperson and executive director of MGM China, says the hotel sent 10 local staff to Hollywood for an intensive two-week training programme to acquire the knowledge and skills to operate the theatre.
The theatre will be the stage for three resident shows, including two launching productions, The Experience, a 10-minute Macau-inspired show showcasing the theatre’s engineering and architectural dexterity, and Destiny, an action-packed immersive theatrical production inspired by TV game shows and adventure video games.
The HK$26 billion integrated resort is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of this year, offering about 1,400 hotel rooms and suites in the Cotai resort area in Macau.

The theatre, installed with the world’s largest permanent indoor LED wall, can seat up to 2,000 people
