British product design brand Tom Dixon has launched its first textile collection Super Texture, three sets of cushions featuring abstract prints, hand-tufting and looping of wool.
Young British textile artist Josephine Ortega was commissioned to create two of the three new cushions – Paint and Abstract.
The Paint cushion is decorated with abstract architectural watercolours inspired by British urbanism. Pigment of pinks and indigo were inkjet-printed onto off-white linen mixed with lightweight viscose for a soft and natural touch.
The Abstract cushion, in New Zealand wool and with colourful loops and duck-feather tufts, is inspired by urban perspective sketches and hippy wall hangings of the ’70s. The weaved cushions are hand-crafted with supersized graphics and grids.
Embroidered by hand and machine on natural linen and cotton mix, the Geo double-sided throw cushion is adorned with monochromatic graphics resembling rocks and layered sediments.
