BTS tops billboard chart and sells over 1 million copies of ‘Love Yourself: Tear’ in first week
Pre-orders for the chart-topping boy band’s third studio album also reached a record high of 1.5 million copies
The super popular Korean boy band made history this week, becoming the first K-pop band to hit the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart with their new album, “Love Yourself: Tear”. The latest album from popular South Korean boy band BTS, also sold more than 1 million copies within the first week of its release.
A total of 1,003,524 copies of the album – BTS’s third studio album – had sold by Friday May 25, following its release on May 18, according to Hanteo Chart, a South Korean sales tracker.
This marks the highest opening week in sales for any BTS album. The septet’s previous album, “Love Yourself: Her”, sold 759,263 copies in the first seven days last year.
Pre-orders for the latest album also reached a record high of 1.5 million copies.
