Harry and Meghan’s Hollywood hood: Elton John, Katy Perry and Serena Williams are now the Sussexes’ A-list Los Angeles neighbours

There were reports earlier this year that Harry and Meghan would move to Los Angeles from their hideaway on Vancouver Island on Canada’s west coast – but only when President Donald Trump was out of office.
They obviously could not wait that long as stories surfaced last week that the Sussexes have moved to Los Angeles, staying in the Beverly Hills mansion of none other than Oprah Winfrey’s friend, show business impresario Tyler Perry.
The UK’s Daily Mail reported that the mansion is spread across 22 acres, has eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and is worth more than US$12 million. The home lies at the back of Beverly Ridge Estate, a gated community known to be more swank than nearby celebrity-crammed neighbourhoods Beverly Park and Mulholland Estates, and only has 14 mansions within its perimeter.
Although Beverly Ridge Estate is not as high profile as its neighbours – most of its residents like to keep a low profile and include businessmen from China and Indonesia, as well as Johnny Carson’s widow – there are still some of the world’s best known celebrities within social-distancing reach, including good friends Elton John and Serena Williams.
Also close by is Nicole Kidman, Ben Affleck, Samuel L Jackson, Katy Perry and Cameron Diaz. It was reported that Elton John, who was a good friend of Harry’s mother Princess Diana, has been helping the Sussexes settle in.
It is unknown whether the Duke and Duchess are renting the mansion or staying as guests, but if you are wondering why they are staying in movie mogul Tyler Perry’s house, the couple are collaborating with Perry’s good friend Oprah on a mental health documentary for Apple TV+ and Oprah did attend their wedding in 2018. Perry and Winfrey are not just best friends but have collaborated on numerous projects with the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Harry and Meghan have been quarantining with their son Archie since they moved to Los Angeles and TMZ has reported the couple has been house hunting in the Bel-Air district. The couple have also been seen out, delivering meals to the homeless in West Hollywood.
